Mason, Inc. Wins Telly Award for Outstanding Commercial

Bethany-based firm receives highest honor for its commercial for Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.

Bethany, Conn. (June 15, 2011) – Lights, camera, action! Mason, Inc. recently announced that it has been awarded a Silver Telly, the highest honor at the Telly Awards. The awards recognize outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, web commercials, videos and films. Mason won in the commercial category for its work with Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.

Mason's winning commercial was part of the Closer To Free ad campaign developed for Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven. Due to its uplifting and positive tone, the sixty-second spot distinguished itself from other hospital campaigns by displaying people living their lives with the empowering message that this life is "yours, not cancer's."

"It's always a tremendous honor to be recognized by your industry peers," said Stephen Hayes, president, Mason, Inc. "Creatively, we took a chance by developing a more upbeat, positive-toned commercial that deals with a very serious issue. It paid off, and it's especially gratifying when it is for a campaign that has yielded such positive results for the client."

Founded in 1978, The Telly Awards annually spotlights the best work done by major advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. Each year, the judges consist of a group of highly qualified advertising, production and other creative professionals who have won a Silver Telly Award in the past and uphold the Telly Awards' standards of excellence. Over eleven thousand entries are received from all over the country and world, and based on the ratio of winners over past years, only seven to ten percent of entrants are chosen to receive Silver Telly Awards.
